Elior celebrates double award win for health and safety

Elior UK has been awarded two consecutive awards for health and safety in the last month – a RoSPA Gold Award for Occupational Health and Safety and a Merit by the BSC (British Safety Council) for the International Safety Awards 2014 – achieving further recognition for its continuing commitment to raising health and safety standards across the organisation.

These long established and internationally respected awards seek to promote high standards of health and safety management practice in order to prevent workplace injuries and work related ill-health.

Colleague welfare is central to Elior’s business. Its dedicated health and wellbeing team have rolled out several safety campaigns over the last year, which include knife safety, manual handling, and slips, trips and falls. These have resulted in a 20% reduction in accidents in these categories.

Alex Botha, chief executive of The British Safety Council says: “The success criteria for our International Safety Awards is challenging and that rightly reflects the importance of ensuring the risks of injury and ill health in the workplace are properly controlled. Elior should be rightly proud of its achievement. We are proud of our association with Elior UK and its commitment to keeping its employees and workplaces healthy and safe.”

Paul Averill, head of safety and wellbeing, Elior UK says: “These distinguished awards pay rightful tribute to the hard work, enthusiasm and determination of Elior’s safety and wellbeing team to drive accidents out of our business and maintain the highest standards of compliance. As well as improving colleague welfare, our clients can enjoy the peace of mind this compliance brings to their businesses. All of the team’s hard work has paid off and we are thrilled to receive this ‘double’ recognition for our efforts.”
