Three students at Redbridge College have seen a promotional video they produced for leading contract caterer Elior UK snapped up by the organisation for use in a national promotional package.

Siavash Karimitari, 20, Christopher Williams, 18, and Georgia Nott, 19, triumphed against three teams of students who were given a real-life project brief by Elior to create a new, edgy promotional video for the college’s REDS (Student Restaurant).

The students, who all study BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Creative and Media Production at the college - located in Romford - were challenged to create a concept, then produce a finished piece to showcase REDS (Student Restaurant) to students across the college.

The three final videos were presented to a judging panel which included Lorraine Herbert, promotions manager at Elior, and Matt Joblin, offer development manager at Elior.

The panel was so impressed with Siavash, Christopher and Georgia’s video, which centred on an FBI theme, that it will now be used by Elior as part of its national promotional package.

Matt Joblin, offer development manager at Elior UK, said: “At Elior, we put people at the heart of our business, and it’s been fantastic to give the marketing and media stars of tomorrow an opportunity to shine. As one of the leading contract catering companies in the UK it's been great to have an opportunity to work with young people and clients outside of our day-to-day operations and be able to add value with the resources and support we can offer.

Working with learners at Redbridge College proved to be an inspiration. Their hard work, creativity and commitment resulted in the production of a more edgy, less corporate communication piece. We will use it to promote REDS (Student Restaurant) at Redbridge College and also externally to inspire many more great working partnerships.

The project was tailored towards the demands of the students’ curriculum on the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Creative and Media Production course, and formed part of their assessment.

Elior awarded £250 prize money to the winning students and has donated a further £250 to Redbridge College’s Visual Arts (Graphic Design & Media) department.
