We are looking for an enthusiastic, competent cook. To provide freshly cooked meals to students daily. This individual must be able to work unsupervised and be competent in all areas of catering. The successful candidate would be ideally qualified however if you have a natural flare or are a talented home cook that can upscale, all candidates will be considered for this fast-paced Kitchen that is open 5 days a week term time only. Your attitude and personality is also what we are looking for, we want someone who cares about great service, great food and above all someone who really wants to in a part of a great team and company.
Overview of the role
You will be required to prepare and cook fresh ingredients from a cyclic menu for as well as help with the day to day operations of school catering including some food ordering and bookwork. General cleaning tasks are involved, and food safety is paramount.
Summary of Role and Key Tasks & Responsibilities
As the Cook you will be expected to:
•Prepare fresh food for breakfast, break and lunch, occasional events such as parent's evenings, Governor's meetings and formal dinners.
•Ensure kitchen and food service areas are clean, appropriately presented.
•Maintain a thorough and up to date knowledge and understanding of the menu and allergens. Training and guidance for this will come from your Catering Manager as well as registered courses.
•Ensure that COSHH, Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations are adhered to, records are kept and any incidents or accidents are reported in line with procedures, to the Catering Manager.
•Complete training as and when requested, in line with company policy and procedure.
•Complete any other tasks as required in the development of the catering service.
Previous experience of cooking in schools/education sites, including baking would be desirable with a willingness to learn.
