Elior celebrated a big win at the UK Event Awards 2011 as IWM Duxford scooped the award for Best Unusual Venue.
Set within the spacious grounds of the famous former First and Second World War airfield the venue houses an impressive collection of over two hundred aircraft, tanks, military vehicles and boats.
Elior operates The Mess Restaurant – a space that revitalises the daytime catering offer for all museum visitors – in Europe’s leading aviation museum. It serves a selection of homemade cakes, sandwiches, soups, jacket potatoes, teas and coffees. The caterer is also responsible for all conferencing and events business at the venue including AirSpace, the museum’s outstanding £25 million exhibition hangar and conference centre.
Jeremy Dover, general manager, Elior UK says: “We’re thrilled to have won this award. For many years we’ve enjoyed a great relationship with the IWM and its customers. We’re doing everything we can to constantly improve the service – for example, we recently received a licence for civil weddings and our chefs create bespoke menus, using seasonal British produce, for guests to enjoy on these special occasions.
“We market and sell corporate services, from advertising the venue, through to event planning and management. It’s one of the only venues in the world where guests can dine under the wings of Concorde, making it a spectacular location.”
