Part new build and part refurbishment, NWHA’s Llys y Coed extra care scheme replaced a residential home previously operated by the local authority. This meant that both residents and catering staff were transferring from the care and employment of the council to NWHA and Elior respectively.

Managing the TUPE process…

Being the first time NWHA had outsourced, an understandable concern  for them was the interests and welfare of the catering and cleaning team. Each employee is a valued member of the local community and a smooth and stress-free transition process to Elior was of absolute priority. Contracting out catering does not mean that loyal and long serving staff lose their jobs. Our approach, starting with a group presentation to introduce them to their new Elior colleagues and ending in the opportunity for each member of staff to have a one to one discussion (a chance for them to talk to us about themselves, their aspirations and personal development), resulted in a team of people with increased motivation and a renewed desire to deliver great food and great service.

Craft training and development delivered since has ensured the residents too are benefitting from Elior’s involvement. As members of the Local Government Pension Scheme during their previous employment, our staff continue to enjoy the equivalent pension benefits as members of our G.A.D approved platinum pension scheme with the

Prudential.

A Comprehensive Service Package…

Elior provide comprehensive cleaning and catering services at Llys y Coed. We provide lunch for every resident, every day. For residents that prefer the convenience of our service we provide breakfasts and we welcome friends and relatives for lunch and other services throughout the day.

Our cleaning team ensures that all the communal areas, corridors, stairs, bathrooms and entrance hall  are spotless at all times. Each resident benefits from a one hour flat clean per week – ensuring that they never need to worry about falling behind on housework.
