Truly innovative…
Hanover’s priority for Popple Well Springs was to offer a food, retail and cleaning service to residents that represented quality, flexibility and choice.
Through joint consultation between Elior, Hanover and members of the resident group, we developed a style and quality of service specifically tailored to residents needs by introducing a range of initiatives:
A flexible meal service…
In many extra care establishments, residents pay for 365 meals per year as part of their overall cost of living. At Popple Well Springs, the residents only pay for 275 meals as part of their annual service charge – meaning that they have 90 days each year to choose to either cook for themselves or dine out.
The residents can choose which days to dine with Elior and can opt to visit the restaurant and pay cash should they wish to do so on any of their ‘free’ 90 days. Our Catering Manager administers the process on behalf of the residents and is able to provide an accurate and up to date record of meals taken whenever needed.
To further enhance the flexibility for residents, we offer the main meal of the day in the evening, rather than lunch.
Residents are therefore able to make the most of their day without the restriction of needing to be home for lunch.
Creating a Restaurant Experience…
Crucial to Hanover’s agenda was the creation of a true ‘restaurant experience’. The style and décor reflects this, as does the style of meal service. Waiting staff take meals to the table directly from the kitchen - as in any hotel or high street restaurant. Gone is the traditional servery counter.
The restaurant menu has a choice of two starters, two main meals, a lighter main meal option and a choice of two desserts. With additional daily options of omelettes, jacket potatoes and salads, the residents are spoilt for choice.
