Nutrition is a vital part of Elior’s commitment to having world class resources in every area important to the responsible and sustainable delivery of healthy, safe, great value food services.

In recognition of the ever-increasing importance being placed on health and nutrition, from clients, customers, the Government and from our own people on site, we have recently strengthened our nutrition-related services.  By teaming up with independent nutrition and dietetic service provider Nudge Nutrition as our partner, we aim to provide an expert resource that is at the leading edge of best practice in the field.

The strength, depth and range of resources provided by this team of registered dietitians is beyond that of most in-house nutrition services in the contract catering industry.  The partnership gives Elior clients access to a team of dietitians that has a broad range of experience gained from working across the clinical, public health, and major sectors of the food industry.  The Elior nutrition team is led by Rosanna Brighton RD SDA and William Cook PhD RD, both of whom have worked extensively over the past ten years across a variety of nutrition-related settings including: clinical, corporate, education, food industry and research.  All members of the team have a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, are members of the Health Professions Council (HPC) and the British Dietetic Association (BDA).  The HPC sets standards of professional training, performance and conduct and keeps a register of health professionals who meet their standards.

The team works within Elior and with our clients to provide: 

  • On-going development and support with Elior business-wide core nutrition resources underpinning the principles of Elior’s approach to healthy catering
  • Review and develop ‘balance’, Elior’s mechanism for improved awareness of healthier eating
  • Ensuring adherence to legislative requirements such as School Food Standards and voluntary industry best practice commitments such as the Responsibility Deal, of which Elior was an early signatory
  • Monitoring and support with reporting on nutritional standards across the business to help ensure best practice continues to be observed
  • Education and training for all Elior employees engaged in food preparation and service; and for our customers on site
  • Nutritional analysis of recipes in order to display nutritional information  to our customers
  • Expert menu and catering practice reviews- from food preparation and cooking practices, through to food served at mealtimes and guidance to ensure the nutritional balance of Elior’s food remains optimal
  • Working with procurement teams to source ingredients based on quality and sound nutrition 

Through these activities Elior puts into practice the philosophy of enabling everyone to make well informed choices about what they eat and drink to enable them to live a healthy life.
